Things change for her very quickly though when she is brutally attacked and left near death. Now, her boss Grace Hawthorne has a choice to make: Let Bea die or… give her a second chance. BIRD: Toronto. An ever growing city. From its humble yet stodgy early days as Toronto the Good, the municipality has changed greatly into a bustling metropolis. It has loosened up, let down its hair, and become a jewel in the crown of Canada. World class restaurants, 5 star hotels, luxury high-rises (many developed by yours truly)… we have it all. Through my work, the west end has become The Place To Be, with over 1500 units sold in my many buildings, from some of the most spectacular penthouses this side of London to our economical studios featuring such amenities like windows. The West End is where it has been at. But what if you’re looking to settle down? Find serenity in your own private space. Raise a family. Escape the hustle AND bustle. Find a new start in Toronto.
Hello, my name is Austin Bird, and I am the developer behind some of Toronto’s most sought after buildings, including The Brightstone, The Cloudfloat Skyscraper, Maximillian Studios and Lofts, and The Meat Factory. My new focus, though, is on the hidden gem that is Toronto’s east end. In my opinion, the west end has run its course. Meanwhile, the east end has become a new beacon for those looking to find a quiet space within the city and develop it. Within it are some of Toronto’s finest eastern neighbourhoods: Riverdale! Little India! Leslieville! The Beaches! Pape Village! The Danforth! And Woodbine Heights!
Low rises, high status, and even better resale prices: the east end is the past and future of the city. If you’re looking to find a place or to sell your own, remember, no one makes a nest like A. Bird. Even those enshrouded in darkness know that. In… hang on. The spaces under the bed, the cracks in the doorframe, the eyes will watch you… the vampires within this city do not walk again, they never left. They are here and watching… Miranda, did you write this? What’s this supposed to mean? I told you, we should never have done this live! God, an absolute waste of $1500. Is this your little fan fiction? You shouldn’t be going through your vampire phase in your 30s, it’s embarrassing!
[SFX: we pull back into the car where the radio is playing]
BEA: The voice on the radio feels too loud to me these days. Everything feels like too much, from the seat belt tight against my chest to the weight of the air on my skin.I am filled with worry, doubt. But not fear. The man on the radio, he doesn’t believe what he speaks of, but I know he speaks the truth. That there are monsters out there. That the undead walk among us. That they need help. And that I am one of those who’s tasked with helping them. Not because of any particular calling or destiny. It’s my day job. Well, night job, now. My boss, Grace, she’s the one who brought me into the world, one I never thought could ever be real. And I know this because I died. And she brought me back from the darkness into a whole world of night.
